In the month of women, ISA Art Gallery presents Sua Kuasa Matra, an exhibition to celebrate women artists and their place in art history as well as in contemporary art. ISA Art Gallery showcases the works of Citra Sasmita, Corinne de San Jose, Ella Wijt, Eun Vivian Lee, Franziska Fennert, Hedwige Jacobs, Ida Lawrence, Liew Mei Toong, Liling Liu, Luh De Gita, Meliantha Muliawan, Sekar Puti, Sinta Tantra, Syagini Ratna Wulan, Vanessa Jones, Yosefa Aulia, and Yuki Nakayama.

In Sanskrit, the term matra is used to define the meaning of "form." The term "form" can have several meanings in art. For this short paper, we are focusing on visual form and special form. A visual form is a form that we can see directly with our eyes or can be touched by our skin. In contrast, a special form is constructed by a relationship between what we see and perceive in our minds. What we perceive from an artwork is a fusion between embodiment and imagination, creating a deeper meaning and significance.

Sua Kuasa Matra invites you to explore "form" through your perception and experience. The exhibition aims to question what beauty is and what creates aesthetically pleasing artworks. Does an artwork have to be beautiful, and who makes the standards? How does "form" relate to content? In this exhibition, we stand for a more vigorous representation of women artists and what they have to say.
